English Language and Literature Department Conducts English Proficiency Test in Collaboration with EYSA Language Center

Gowa, July 3, 2026 – The English Literature Department (BSI), Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Alauddin Makassar, conducted an English Proficiency Test (EPT) for its students in collaboration with EYSA Language Center. Held at the Faculty Lecture Theatre, the activity forms part of the department's continuous efforts to strengthen students' English language competence and prepare them for academic and professional challenges in an increasingly globalized world.

The EPT was professionally administered by EYSA Language Center using standardized assessment procedures to evaluate students' listening, structure, and reading skills. The test provides an objective measure of students' English proficiency, enabling the department to monitor learning outcomes and identify areas for further language development.

As an English-major program, the department recognizes that language proficiency is a fundamental competency for its students. The EPT therefore serves not only as an assessment tool but also as an important benchmark for curriculum evaluation, academic advising, and students' readiness for future opportunities such as international exchange programs, scholarships, postgraduate studies, and employment.

The activity was preceded by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the English Literature Department and EYSA Language Center, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership in English language assessment and academic development. The agreement is expected to facilitate future collaborations in language training, certification, student development, and other educational initiatives.

The partnership is particularly meaningful as Muh. Yusril Abidin, President Director of EYSA Language Center, is an alumnus of BSI (Class of 2023). His involvement reflects the department's growing network of alumni who continue to contribute to the advancement of their alma mater through professional collaboration.

Students participated enthusiastically throughout the testing session, demonstrating their commitment to improving their English proficiency. The department expects that the EPT results will serve as valuable feedback for both students and lecturers in designing more targeted learning strategies and support programs.

By collaborating with a professional language institution, the English Literature Department continues to enhance the quality of its academic services while strengthening links between higher education and industry. Such initiatives reaffirm the department's commitment to producing graduates with strong English proficiency, professional competence, and global competitiveness.
