English Literature Students Participate in "Discover Your Purpose" Workshop

Gowa, July 9, 2026 – Students from the English Literature Study Program (BSI), Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Alauddin Makassar, participated in a self-development workshop entitled “Discover Your Purpose: Finding Your Ikigai and Realizing It Through Vision Boards.” The workshop was held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the BSI lab and featured Mutmainna, S.Hum., as the facilitator.

The activity aimed to help students discover their personal purpose and develop concrete plans for their future through self-reflection and visualization techniques. Drawing inspiration from the Japanese concept of ikigai, the workshop encouraged participants to explore the intersection between their passions, talents, values, and future aspirations.

During the workshop, Mutmainna, S.Hum., guided students through a series of interactive sessions that emphasized self-awareness and purposeful planning. She highlighted the importance of understanding one's strengths and interests as a foundation for making academic and career decisions.

One of the key activities of the workshop was creating vision boards, in which students visually represented their personal dreams, academic goals, and future career ambitions. Through this hands-on activity, participants were encouraged not only to dream about their future but also to design actionable pathways toward achieving their aspirations.

The workshop provided students with valuable opportunities to develop important soft skills such as self-reflection, goal setting, critical thinking, and personal leadership. Such competencies are increasingly essential in preparing graduates to navigate future academic and professional challenges.

The participation of BSI students in this workshop reflects the English Literature Study Program's commitment to supporting students' holistic development. In addition to fostering linguistic and academic competencies, the program continuously encourages activities that promote personal growth, self-discovery, and career readiness.

Through initiatives such as “Discover Your Purpose,” the English Literature Study Program seeks to nurture graduates who are not only academically competent but also reflective, purpose-driven, and prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.
